The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

                The Mechanical Engineer Intern provides support in equipment and systems testing, specification, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of Refinery Reliability Programs: Bad Actor investigation, KPI tracking, preventive maintenance, Fixed equipment or Rotating Equipment predictive maintenance

•             Small refinery projects including development, design, evaluating vendor bids, and project support

•             Assisting in execution of Management of Change (MOC) process

•             Troubleshoot refinery equipment/system issues. Participate in equipment failure investigation

•             Assist in development of Maintenance Management System database

•             Support outage and equipment repair efforts

•             Monitoring and verifying field work


Minimum Required Education:

•             A Junior or Senior status working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

•             Completion of entry level “101” course work concerning thermodynamics, fluids/hydraulics, statics, materials, and kinematics is preferred

•             Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 unless otherwise approved


Minimum Required Experience:

•             Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices and methods of principles

•             Strong technical, quantitative analysis and process orientation skills

•             Working knowledge of root cause analysis concepts

•             Proficient with engineering software

•             Solid verbal and written communication skills

•             Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

•             Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of Company personnel, customers, vendors and visitors

•             Ability to work as a self-directed individual and in a team environment

•             Strong attention to detail

•             Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in an effective manner

•             Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound engineering principles

•             Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

•             Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
