We are hiring for the position of Director, Technical Process supproting our Tyler, TX Refinery site location. 

 

The Director, Technical Process will be a Refinery Leadership Team Member, reporting directly to the Vice President, General Manager of the Tyler, TX Refinery. The Director, Technical process will be responsible for providing technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes.

Job Summary:

Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities, to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products. Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems. Conducts analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses. Maintains process designs to optimize process and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

 

Job Responsibilities:

-Leads the Technical Department employees, including Process Engineers, Rotating Engineers and may also manage the Laboratory and Control Systems Engineers by providing technical guidance, leadership, and prioritization of projects.

-Develops the Engineering employees and prepares them for future roles in the organization. -Participates in developing the engineers in the Rotating Engineering program for future roles in the organization

-Provides guidance on the interpretation of operating unit data, monitors catalyst performance, recommends unit operating guidelines, and estimates remaining catalyst life.

-Instrumental in the operation of excellence and work with other departments to develop and drive the progress of unit health monitoring philosophy, tools, and cadence.

-Serve as a technical authority of operating limit and drive continuous improvement.

-Prepares the annual operating goals for the department.

-Works with Capital Projects to develop capital projects that maximize the refinery units and its resources.

-Provides guidance on unit optimization and develops the project portfolio of refinery gross margin improvements.

-Collaborates with the Planning Department to determine run rates and overall optimization of the refinery.

-Interprets Solomon data for the refinery and proposes ways to optimize the refinery.

 

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

At least 10 years of related experience. Downstream refining industry, preferred. 

At least 3 years of management experience.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Master's or MBA degree typically preferred.
