Construction Manager (Convenience Stores)

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.


The Field Construction Manager is responsible for the overall field construction effort. This role coordinates the new construction and remodeling activities of convenience stores with various contractors and vendors. The Field Construction Manager leads and monitors project safety efforts, construction progress (schedule and cost), and ensures that the final facilities meet the project design requirements. This role reports to the Director of Construction.



  • Project schedule development with emphasis on impact of the schedule on construction activities and efficiency
  • Approve key design documents impacting construction including site plans, constructability sketches, etc. 
  • Manage the contractor bid selection process
  • Participate in budget planning and control
  • Manage the contractor's constructability effort
  • Manage the field logistics including security, safety, and coordination
  • Assists congtractor with develpment of inspections in the respected cities
  • Approve purchase orders within budget



  • 5 years of proven experience in new construction, general contracting, or construction management, of which
  • 3 years of proven experience in convenience store construction
  • Knowledge and experience in managing complex construction projectsa from project initial steps through start-up/commissioning/closeup
  • A strong knowledge and experience of construction safe wok practices
  • Ability to pre-plan and coordinate several projects in regards to material contracts, manpower, equipment, safety and subcontractors
  • Thorough understanding of schedules, project budgets, submittals, change orders, and job costing
  • Proven analytical problem solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of third-party provider contract negotiations and construction quality standards
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and complete multiple tasks within project deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with proven ability in P6 and/or Microsoft Project
  • Strong communication skills, in both oral and written forms, with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel 90%


Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Technical, or Business discipline
  • Construction Management Association of America CCM or Engineering PE Certification
  • Demonstrated expereicne of multi-discipline construction management
