Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.


Perform project(s) relative to the academic endeavor for practical experience within the scope of environmental regulatory compliance.  Works collectively withing the BSR Enfironmental team supporting compliance with applicable State and Federal Air, Water and Waste regulatory requirements as well as provides guidance to refinery personnel while driving ownership and expectations concering specific areas of environmental compliance responsibilities. 


  • Support the development and updating of environmental based compliance programs, guidelines, and systems
  • Assist in the development and implementation of guidelines, procedures and work practices to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations




  • 0-2 years of experience in refining and/or the chemical industry
  • A good understanding of human behavior is essential and esperience in Process, Operations, Engineering is helpful



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science,  Master of Science, or Doctoral Degree in engineering or related field


  • The work environment varies widely from indoors to outdoors. Indoors is temperature controlled and typically quiet. Work is done sitting down in front of a computer, or at a desk, looking at Unit Monitoring spreadsheets, drawings or P&IDs.
  • Outdoors ranges from -20 to over 100 °F, it is typically noisy, requiring hearing protection in most places. The weather can be sweltering or raining, freezing and slippery. In the Refinery units there are many potential hazards, such as:
  • Hot equipment that radiates heat.
  • Rotating equipment.
  • Exhaust fumes from portable compressors.
  • Hazardous Chemicals if inhaled or in contact with skin.
