SAP Payroll Technical Analyst

Position Summary

The SAP Payroll Technical Analyst will provide highly advanced technical support for the SAP HCM system maintenance and enhancements including integration to other systems. The Analyst will perform tasks related to analysis, execution, and support of payroll operations. This position is responsible for maintenance, upgrade, testing, troubleshooting of payroll and other SAP modules. The Analyst will ensure that deliverables meet or exceed individual objectives, adhere to payroll goals and support best practices. This individual should be able to work well under pressure, adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain focus on key tasks during busy periods. This position is based in our Brentwood, TN headquarters and requires the ability to work independently.



  • Provide ideas, solutions, and tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Payroll operations.
  • Participates in solution design activities across functional teams to collaboratively develop effective solutions.
  • Leverages subject matter expertise to drive the resolution of more complex business technology challenge.
  • Participate in, lead and mentor others in technical specification activities.
  • Perform regular system maintenance tasks, such as implementation of Support Packs, Enhancement Packs, BSI and Payroll year end activities.
  • Integration with SuccessFactors and third party vendors (Fidelity and Kronos preferred)
  • Design and develop efficient, well-structured and documented technical solutions with an emphasis on US Payroll, Time Management modules and some experience in Core HR and Talent Management.
  • Work with business users to capture business requirements and build integrated project plans. 
  • Troubleshoot and manage complex interfaces



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience with SAP HCM Payroll and ERP 6.0
  • EHP7 experience and/or SAP CAA preferred
  • ABAP experience
  • Strong technical background with good functional knowledge in
    • US Payroll and Payroll Control Centre.
    • Payroll Gross and Net calculations (One weekly pay cycle).
    • Off-cycles.
    • 401K Processing & Retroactivity.
    • Deduction frequencies and Prepaid deductions.
    • Garnishments. 
    • Reports (Taxes, W2, 1095, Garnishments).
    • Benefit integration and setup.
    • Wage type setup/ Part period Proration setups.
    • Taxability models.
    • Finance integration and Month end accruals.
    • Claims Processing.
    • Year-end processes
  • Strong desire to grow, learn and take on new and challenging tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills, experience in solving practical issues and engaging cross-functional teams of multiple process partners to a consensus.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-driven, motivated and able to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to successfully support multiple projects in a high paced environment.
  • Experience with business analysis and related techniques, especially in the energy/trading sector is an advantage.
