Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.



Position Overview:

The Director of Talent Acquisition (TA) is responsible for providing vision, leadership, planning and execution of the talent acquisition strategy for the organization. This position will build and scale the talent acquisition team with areas of specialty to meet the aggressive growth trajectory of the organization. In partnership with TA Operations, this individual will enhance internal processes and systems, leverage market insight to drive employer branding initiatives, and partner closely with senior leadership to plan and execute innovative strategies to build a world-class Talent Acquisition function. 

The ideal leader will be an inquisitive and curious individual with the ability to demonstrate initiative and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where change is ongoing. This leader will use past experience as an operator, advisor, and change agent to scale the process, analytics, vision, and strategic plan to align with current and forecasted talent needs as the organization evolves. This role requires a leader that brings out the best in every person, opportunity, and relationship to develop best in class hiring processes that enables the organization to acquire exceptional talent.

The Director of Talent Acquisition will provide leadership to a team of 8-12 resources comprised of Recruiters and Coordinators. This position will report to the Senior Director of Talent Management and is located in the Brentwood, TN corporate office.

Job Responsibilities:

The Director of Talent Acquisition will play a lead role in building creative and effective data-driven strategies to attract, attain, develop and retain a broad range of diverse and highly talented professionals. This role is responsible for providing vision, leadership, planning, coaching and mentorship to the recruitment team for successful execution of an enterprise-wide Talent Acquisition strategy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Set the vision, strategy and goals for Talent Acquisition; provide leadership and development of the recruiting team; ensure recruiting team competencies are continually developed to drive a high performance culture while maximizing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide leadership, coaching and support to Talent Acquisition team, articulating vision, strategic initiatives, setting priorities, and allocating resources to align with business objectives for successful execution of annual talent delivery plans
  • Guided by organizational goals and objectives, lead the development of the enterprise TA strategy to contribute to the development and integration of the broader overall talent management strategy on an enterprise level that supports aggressive business growth in a competitive market
  • Serve as the strategic talent advisor to the executive team and management, providing insight and direction to ensure the attraction of top talent to the organization; collaborates with HR Shared Services, HR Business Partners, finance, legal and other business/functional areas to support recruitment needs across the enterprise
  • Lead a cohesive recruiting operation to support organizational goals such as expansions, reorganizations, and restructurings; design creative sourcing strategies for niche talent to attract top-tier diverse talent across all functional areas and geographic locations with laser focus on employer branding, sourcing, social media, employee referral programs, back and front end systems/tools and vendor management (i.e. third party search firms)
  • Differentiated Hiring: Hire talent that will transform Delek US through driving strategic initiatives such as workforce planning and capacity planning; monitoring headcount execution plan and owning headcount forecasting developing scalable cross-functional hiring strategies with a focus on niche, diverse talent
  • Data Driven Outcomes: Establish meaningful Talent Acquisition metrics and mechanisms for regularly analyzing outcomes and applying insights to improve performance; ability to use data from a range of internal and external sources to generate organization and people insights, establish informed decision making and in turn, define and influence areas of focus, actions and decisions that contribute to the overall talent strategy
  • Partners with HRIS & TA Operations to design, implement and improve recruiting systems, tools, onboarding processes, and other technologies or platforms to ensure maximum automation and process efficiency with Talent Acquisition; proactively develop an approach to maintain processes, tools, systems and training necessary to scale and support the function while ensuring staffing activity is meeting and exceeding business needs
  • Own candidate experience and actively coach the recruiting team to partner with Hiring Managers to create an exceptional client and candidate experience
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with business leaders to ensure talent acquisition activities meet business needs by advising business divisions on recruiting solutions, policies and procedures; collaborating with business units/functions on workforce planning, talent gaps, and potential attrition; incorporating information into business recruiting strategy and initiatives; providing consultation and recommendations on how to fill talent gaps and increase diversity representation; creating plans and events that address talent gaps
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent
  • Execute effective local, regional and national sourcing strategies to assure the acquisition of a diverse pool of qualified prospects while ensuring that recruiting practices are compliant with organizational policies and other regulatory requirements (EEOC, OFCCP)

Requirements – Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge in recruiting processes, procedures, and creative sourcing strategies, as well as the implementation and management of talent acquisition systems
  • Previous success with introducing, implementing, and sustaining key Talent Acquisition initiatives and showing direct, positive linkages to achievement of the business strategy
  • Expertise developing and deploying a compelling employment brand through multiple channels, including the strategic use of social media and innovative sourcing strategies to deliver a superior talent acquisition brand while building robust pipeline of diverse talent
  • Experience developing and managing an annual budget, metrics, and key performance goals
  • Anticipates customer needs, and proactively meets and exceeds customer expectations. Recognizes the issues that customers want to resolve, and creates, or facilitates the creation of, products and services to address customer needs


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or other related discipline
  • 10+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition leadership expertise within a growth oriented, matrixed organization
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience including demonstrated success leading recruiters in an environment of transformation and change in a highly aggressive and competitive talent market
  • 5+ years of experience in recruitment marketing, employment branding, university relations and/or talent acquisition operations including high volume activity & tight deadlines with a proven, quantifiable recruitment track record
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel; Working knowledge of ATS platforms is mandatory
  • Exhibit knowledge of hiring practices, behavioral-based interview techniques, tracking processes for applicants and open positions, and recruiting metrics
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including measurement, reporting and ability to juggle multiple high priority projects in a continuously changing environment
  • Must be highly organized, analytical, action and detail oriented with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Executive presence; ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and collaborate cross-functionally to establish trust, respect, competence and confidence while delivering the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers
  • Excellent leadership, project management, data reporting and analytics, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of employment law, including EEO, FLSA, ADA, and associated state regulations
  • Must be highly organized, analytical, action and detail oriented with the ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to travel when needed – no more than 15% annually

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in HR, Business, or other related discipline  
  • Merger and acquisition experience a plus
  • Experience in Oil & Gas or Energy sector is strongly preferred
  • Convenience store, restaurant, or retail recruiting experience preferred
