Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.


The logistics operations primarily consist of Delek Logistics Partners, LP.  Delek US Holdings, Inc.and its affiliates own approximately 63% (including the 2 percent general partner interest) of Delek Logistics Partners, LP.  Delek Logistics Partners, LP (NYSE:DKL) is a growth-oriented master limited partnership focused on owning and operating midstream energy infrastructure assets.


The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

The Category Specialist in collaboration with the business unit teams and the Procurement teams, will be responsible for the implementation of sourcing and procurement strategy for a range of products and/or services. This person will provide leadership centered on the prescribed sourcing process and the direction of the Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Director. The role is to collaborate with business partners to consider new strategies for extracting value from these categories. This role reports into the Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Director.

The ideal candidate will be a polished, energetic professional and hands-on team player capable of managing competing priorities associated with the Delek Procurement function. Good people skills are important as this position interacts with a variety of stakeholders and will need to be able to clearly communicate ideas and strategies, collaborate and seek alignment with stakeholders, influence decisions and manage expectations across the company. Flexibility and a positive attitude are also important as we continue to build the team and build new processes. Ingenuity, collaboration, and creativity, rather than maintaining precedence, will determine our success.

Steers business units and development related sourcing initiatives for the company with the goal of achieving cost reductions in, the total cost of goods and services, increase total % of spend with preferred suppliers, as well as in maintaining or improving quality and supplier service levels. Aligns with other departments and/or business units in supporting their strategies and processes while maximizing the company’s buying potential and savings opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

All of the below items are completed with varying degrees of support from the Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Director.

  • Implements and rolls out the strategic vision for business units and development of their category.
  • Coordinates with the department team on major strategic project and supplier reviews to ensure programs are maintained on an ongoing basis (price verification, contract adherence, etc)
  • Utilizes sourcing processes to ensure that contracts are put in place that meet the needs of all of our business units, while providing synergy in process and savings. Timing of which is based on contract expiration date or business needs.
  • Identifies and prioritizes sourcing projects within spend area and develop the annual procurement plan.
  • Leads/participates in cross-functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies.
  • Drives contract and supplier compliance to the new and existing agreements.
  • Provides detailed reporting on company programs including trend analysis, rebate tracking, savings initiatives, etc.
  • Leads selected department sourcing initiatives and be a point person for selected company-wide strategic projects.

Additional Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in implementation of new procurement systems, policies, and processes
  • Track and report savings / business value and other KPIs for each executed strategy
  • Network externally to facilitate competitive intelligence including best practices, emerging / potential sources of competitive advantage, market pricing, benchmarking
  • Be recognized by business partners for supporting their strategy and driving value

Specific Skills and Experience:

  • Some experience with and knowledge of relevant processes, suppliers, and industry standards.
  • Some experience in the Refining industry is preferred;
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting techniques and evaluation criteria, and ensure that project goals, schedules and performance requirements are achieved
  • Good negotiations skills
  • Some fluency in contract terms and conditions, contract development and contract management
  • Financial analysis and value / TCO analysis
  • Strategic, long term critical thinking and planning
  • An understanding of supply risk management and its implications
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including executive levels of management
  • Ability to drive decisions through influence
  • Bias for action and urgency
  • Minimum of one to three years of related sourcing experience including proficiency in procurement. Proven success sourcing multiple categories for a national, multi-location organization including: managing RFP's, supplier relationships, contract compliance, etc.

  • Driven to learn and expand one’s knowledge of Procurement and business in general
  • Ability to travel as needed – 5% - 15%

Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of experience and education.
