Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.


The logistics operations primarily consist of Delek Logistics Partners, LP.  Delek US Holdings, Inc.and its affiliates own approximately 63% (including the 2 percent general partner interest) of Delek Logistics Partners, LP.  Delek Logistics Partners, LP (NYSE:DKL) is a growth-oriented master limited partnership focused on owning and operating midstream energy infrastructure assets.


The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

The operations manager will be responsible for Driver administration, operational management, and personnel management, among other duties.

The position is located in Odessa TX and requires 25-50% travel, and will report to the Sr. Director of Transportation Operations.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understanding, communicating, ensuring group’s alignment with Retail and Transportation strategies, corporate goals and business objectives.
  • Aligning the Region’s plan with direction of Retail and Transportation Operations to achieve goals and objectives, in conjunction with accountability for leading group to achieve these results.
  • Holding the group and the individuals within the group accountable for achieving results.
  • Using sound business disciplines to generate maximum efficiency while operating in a safe manner, meet performance standards and goals set forth by the company, customers, and regulating authorities.
  • Responsible for spend effectiveness in Region.
  • Providing leadership, training, guidance, and resources for the driver team to be successful.
  • Implementing programs, policies, processes, procedures that improve driver awareness, operational effectiveness and safety to include designing and updating Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensuring all drivers and equipment meet or exceed Department of Transportation and all other regulatory agencies regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety and equipment inspections as well as unannounced safety follows (day and night shifts)
  • Analyzing driver safety and performance data in order to identify trends and exceptions.  Using analysis to improve driver, equipment and operational efficiency.
  • Managing drivers in administrative capacity including driver schedules (i.e. conducting schedule bids) and equipment assignment.
  • Personnel Management (Completing job requisition, Interviewing, hiring, on-boarding and terminations).
  • Training of direct reports to perform their assigned tasks and oversee for all team members.  Responsible to provide annual/periodical reviews for all direct reports and oversee process for all team members.
  • Accountable for Region’s vacation and time off administration.
  • Initiate contact and build relationships with Retail and commercial groups.
  • Meet customer and organizational requirements.
  • Assure that assigned Region sizing covers all needs associated with servicing Retail-locations and other organizational needs.  Recommend headcount change if needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Customer Service, Maintenance, Safety, Systems / Data Entry, Driver Payroll, Sales & Marketing Leadership to accomplish organizational goals and meet customer needs.
  • Responsible for analyzing the Region’s operation, making recommendations for how we can improve, and take the business to the next level.
  • Support and assists with implementing Safety Program, Maintaining Company, and driver’s compliance above standard with Department of Transportation Regulations.
  • Assist Safety Manager with monthly safety meetings, conducting and managing accident investigations.
  • Monitor CSA scores and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in selecting equipment, uniforms, and supplies used in daily transportation operation.
  • Collaborate and ensure maintenance program is successfully implemented in Region, and that equipment is properly maintained.
  • Ensure equipment availability impact on operations is minimized.
  • Partner with Customer Service Team to ensure that operations run efficiently supporting customers, drivers, and organizational goals.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of Transportation Operations


Requirements – Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Safety.  Experience in fuel transportation a plus.
  • Previous transportation management experience or extensive fuel / petroleum driving experience with impeccable safety record.
  • Extensive understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations with an emphasis on the Hazardous Materials section of the regulations.
  • Experience in supervising, evaluating, mentoring, developing employees, and hiring employees in the Transportation industry.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation dispatching procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to take action quickly and effectively.
  • With a 24/7 hour operation, ability to provide to support to drivers in-person or remotely.
  • Ability to work well with others, solve problems, and work cross-functionally to achieve results.
  • Ability to set priorities for drivers in Region and align them to the organizational goals and plan.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skill set required, Advanced Skill Set a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel.  Mostly same-day travel.  Some overnight travel is required.
