Role Summary
The Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Technician:
Technician inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains the electrical and instrumentation systems in a safe manner While in the field or in the office. This role must be able to maintain and repair equipment according to service manuals, company procedures or process and instrumentation diagrams.
Job Accountabilities
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Personally adhere to and enforce all safety procedures and policies, to include but no limited to hot work, confined space, and lockout/tag-out
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate and maintain electrical equipment and systems of varying voltages including but not limited to 24VDC and 110VAC through 4,160VAC
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate and maintain electrical equipment including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, process valves, AC Drives, electrical cable, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, conduit, receptacles, PLC’s, heaters, control panels, lights & lighting panels, distributive controls, UPS, fire & emergency, cable trays
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), MOVs, Control Valves, actuators, Back Press Valves, flow meters Micro Motion turbine and PD, tubing, RTD, thermocouple, PLCs Allen Bradley, Modicon, SCADAPAC, ABB Flow X, Red lion Data Station Plus and also Red Lion HIMs, Modbus Communication Protocols, Modbus Data transfer, OMNI Flow Computers,
- Lead repairs and calibration of electrical equipment and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of electro-mechanical equipment
- Lead the team in Installation, implement and maintain new control systems as needed
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or calibrate electrical and instrumentation systems
- Responsible for assigning work orders and all other assignments
- Works effectively without supervision
- Communicates well with employees from all areas of the facility
- Conduct safety meetings, MOCs, job plans, and assure all assigned personnel follow all safety, maintenance, environmental and company procedures and guidelines.
- Report to the E&I Manager on the activities within assigned group.
- Plan and schedule daily work assignments.
- Procure materials and parts.
- Perform routine inspections of work activities to assure that field specifications are adhered to.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Characteristics
- High School diploma or GED and three (5) years of electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience
- Demonstrated safety training in an industrial environment
- Proven experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation tools including but not limited to: multi-meter, amp meter, voltage tester, megohmmeter, tic trace, chart recorder, HART communicator, dead weight tester, hand pump pressure testing, PLC Software, DOT Paper work.
- Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and instrumentation systems
- Knowledge pertaining to NEC, NFPA70E and local electrical codes
- Proven ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, man-lifts, etc.
- Experience with Lact and Pump Station electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, electro-mechanical systems and equipment, AC motor systems, PLC systems and ability to use software to troubleshoot and program and operator interface systems, bending & installing conduit
- Must be willing and able to work shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand and update electrical blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Proficient computer skills and utilizing several different computer software programs, including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Some PLC Software
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Requires specialized expertise in technical processes or procedures.
- Completes assignments and facilitates the work activities of others.
- Will need to act as a lead, providing subject matter guidance to team members.
- Works autonomously within established procedures and practices; proposing improvements to processes and methods as needed.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or Electronics Engineering
- Completion of an apprenticeship/journeyman program
- History with team leadership.
- Five (5) years of electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification
