JOB SUMMARY
The Gas Plant Engineering (Crygenic & Gas Processing Focus) Intern supports department initiatives by assisting with day‑to‑day activities, project work, and analysis related to the department’s objectives.
The Intern will work alongside Delek professionals to support cryogenic processing, amine treating, compression, and gas gathering operations, gaining insight into how the department contributes to overall business operations.
While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, working at heights, and outside weather conditions.
Physical activities include climbing, standing, crawling, confined space entry, and maneuvering through operating process units. While performing the duties of this position in the refinery, appropriate personal protective equipment will be worn as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- No Licensure or Certification Required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with good academic standing
- Availability to work 40 hours/per week during Summer Internship Program
- A self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Ability to record and present data in a clear and concise manner
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Solid software application skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good organizational & Strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness and desire for continual learning and self-development
- Maintain safe, clean, and orderly working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations
- Ability to successfully work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team seeking to continuously improve department performance
- Assist in troubleshooting plant upsets involving:
- Cryogenic residue and NGL recovery systems
- Amine treating systems
- Dehydration units
- Compression and suction/discharge systems
- Gas gathering pipelines
- Build and maintain ProMax simulations of the plant to validate:
- Process performance
- Heat and material balances
- Recovery efficiencies
- Operating margin and bottlenecks
- Help monitor and evaluate plant performance metrics including:
- Recovery
- Fuel usage
- Power consumption
- Amine circulation rates
- Compressor performance
- Support updates to:
- P&IDs
- Equipment lists
- Process narratives
- Perform other duties as assigned
