  • Our logistics business currently owns and operates 720 miles of crude and product pipelines, a 600-mile crude oil gathering system, and storage tanks and terminals.
  • Our Retail or convenience store part of Delek, runs over 250 stores in Texas and New Mexico. We also have company-branded New-to-Industry DK stores in the southern part of the US!
  • Our three renewables’ plants in Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi combined can produce 40 million gallons of biodiesel fuel a year.

 

Delek US is looking to hire Engineering Interns (All Locations: Tyler, Texas, Big Spring Texas, Krotz Springs, Louisiana, El Dorado, Arkansas) for the upcoming Summer 2025 timeline. The Engineering Interns will support the initiatives for the refinery with a portion of this position performed in the field. While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, working at heights, and outside weather conditions. Physical activities include climbing, standing, crawling, confined space entry, and maneuvering through operating process units. While performing the duties of this position in the refinery, appropriate personal protective equipment will be worn as required. This position also involves documenting detailed reports on findings, and participation on various committees. This position will learn how to track, monitor, and justify projects which will result in creating sound training experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and determine root cause and take corrective action to resolve system failures. 
  • Participate in technical investigations, design, and analysis of the performance of the various equipment to identify deficiencies, antiquation, and the potential for benefits and improvements working with experienced and knowledgeable fellow engineers.
  • Develops, selects, and tests equipment and their components to evaluate/select best in class and technology systems.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and fellow engineers on equipment problem solving through root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and effective solutions to prevent root cause.
  • Oversee the equipment such as mechanical and/or instrumentation to generate critical equipment list, update P&ID’s, and equipment specifications.
  • Plan, design, and write specifications for process equipment.
  • Ability to successfully work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team seeking to continuously improve supply chain performance and customer satisfaction
  • Create and prepare reports, type documents, and file
  • All other duties as assigned 
     

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or related field within Engineering. 
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00
  • Availability to work at least 40 hours a week.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with SDS and safety protocols in a mechanical environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to record and present data in a clear and concise manner
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid software application skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and desire for continual learning and self-development.
