Process Engineer

Job Summary:
Develops and modifies process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements, modifications or additions to document work. Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules. Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform all routine engineering calculations (i.e. mass balances, energy balances, conversion calculations).

• Gather, analyze, interpret, act upon, and pass on all pertinent unit operations data.  Ensure Refinery planning is aware of any limitations or constraints imposed from ongoing project execution or current operations.

• Generate and maintain an information database on all pertinent process variables and update PFDs and P&IDs.  These responsibilities will apply to both project and process engineering responsibilities.

• Make proactive recommendations for improving unit yields and optimizing energy consumption.  This function applies to both project support responsibilities and any assigned operating support responsibilities.

• Support turnaround activities by performing equipment inspections (including internal inspections of vessels and other equipment) and making necessary recommendations for corrections and or improvements.

• Initiate and justify new projects, additional monitoring, and other improvements to the unit.  Provide detailed project execution liaison support between project/contract engineering and refinery operations organizations.

• Provide backup during the absences of the Process Engineering Manager as required.

• Champion awareness of all safety, health, and environmental issues that impact the unit, the refinery, and all personnel.

Required Qualifications: 
• At least 2 years of related experience.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Three years of specific related experience in a refining or petrochemical operating company.  

• Process or Technical Service experience is a minimum requirement. 

• Experience in the execution of capital projects an advantage to the organization.
