The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains the electrical and instrumentation systems in a safe manner within the Refinery. This role must be able to maintain and repair equipment according to service manuals, company procedures or process and instrumentation diagrams.

All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, and vision of the organization. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school education or GED required.   
  • Technical training school certification highly desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an electrical or instrument technician in a chemical plan or oil refinery required. 
  • Formal electrical/instrument technical certification highly desirable and may be substituted in lieu of experience.
  • Experience with O2, PH, H2S, Opacity and GC analyzers highly desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Calibrate, install and troubleshoots and performs maintenance on various instruments used for process control, alarms, and monitoring.  Devices include, but are not limited to:  flow, level, pressure, and temperature transmitters, analyzers and control valves.
  • Trouble shoots, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on electric motor starters, control circuits, and other electrical equipment.
  • Reads and interprets loop sheets and electrical schematics
  • Updates loop sheets, specification sheets, and drawings as required
  • Accept temporary supervisory duties
  • Follows all safety rules and guidelines established by the refinery and participates in safety meetings, safety programs, field safety audits, and VPP support activities
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and wear self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to wear fire retardant clothing and protective gear as required.
  • This position requires a the individual to be able to obtain a TWIC card for employment. 
  • Must have the ability to climb, walk, speak, drive, bend, crawl, bend, kneel, see and read. 
  • Must be able to lift 20-50 pounds, work in high noise areas, extreme weather conditions, areas where odors, toxic chemicals, fumes, vibration, and high noise levels are present. 
  • Must be able to climb 200 feet or higher and work in confined spaces. 
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, work extended hours, and flexible working both day and night rotation as required.
  • Must be able to work holidays, and weekends as require in addition to working in supervisory capacity as required. 
  • Must be able to take call.
