JOB SUMMARY

The Area Specialist is responsible for ensuring unit capacity in their assigned area, serving as the senior operations team member assigned to an area, and will also own operational input into all other longer-term process and be the operations representative to the Business Team.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Two (2) or more years Experience in leadership role or equivalent military experience (Required)

  • Four (4) or more years Experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role required (Required)

  • No Licensure or Certification Required.

Must pass drug test and background check , Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule, holidays and overtime as required, Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs, ladders and in confined spaces, Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, respirator)

  • Provides escalation path for the shift team and supports the day-to-day activities of team within assigned area, as needed, to ensure safe and quality production and meet identified goals

  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by owning and approving area operating procedures

  • Utilizes technical knowledge of assigned area(s) and oversee the reliability and throughput including the development and implementation of operational improvement and efficiency gain strategies

  • Leads or assists in the investigation and closure of Gensuite incidents in assigned area

  • Conducts audits and walk-throughs to ensure a safe and compliant operation

  • Accountable for developing and implementing margin improvement and efficiency plans

  • Supports Shift Superintendent and Unit Technical Trainer to ensure operator training materials are current and accurate in support of an effective training program

  • Oversees reliability, compliance, quality and safety programs for assigned area(s)

  • Evaluates alternatives and make decisions in a fast-paced work environment

  • Plans and maintains unit downtime schedule in support of maintenance activities and business planning

  • Coordinates with OMC to set maintenance priorities

  • Provides Planning Premises for Weekly, Monthly, and Annual Plans

  • Issues daily Operational Guidelines to shift teams

  • Manages relationships with specialty chemical and catalyst vendors including contract management and materials receipts

  • Conducts routine, structured monitoring of unit performance

  • Leads the Area Business Team through short term threat resolution and issues escalated from shift team

  • Acts as contract Holder for Area contracts and track and manage variable expenses in area of responsibility

  • Other duties as assigned
