JOB SUMMARY

The Pipeline Operator is responsible for supporting day to day operations, maintenance, and activities on the pipelines and facilities located in their district. The Pipeline Operator will work with technical personnel and the Pipeline Maintenance Team to ensure their work is planned and carried out to keep
the system operating in a safe, cost-efficient manner. The Pipeline operator is responsible for various system critical operations within the system including but not limited to:Rail Car loading and Unloading.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Responding to all pipeline movements within the stations and on pipelines typically a 40 hour

    per week position there is the potential of 24/7 response as required.

 

  • Follow the direction of the Pipeline Operations Manager.
  • Effectively, communicate with the Operations Control Center in El Dorado, AR as required to determine and meet the needs of the specific pipelines and stations in the system.
  • Make necessary manual valve alignment changes as directed by the Pipeline Operations Manager or the SCADA control room or as needed to manage emergency situations within the various pipeline systems.
  • The Pipeline Operator will operate and maintain multiple crude purchasing skids that are required to purchase and control system flow and pressure.
  • The Pipeline Operator will monitor the meter proving operations throughout the system.
  • One of the most important tasks is the testing of the composite crude samples throughout the system. The test must follow API approved crude measurement procedures to enable the Pipeline Operator to generate a crude purchase document. This document will be used to purchase the crude that has been transported through the DK owned measurement meters at each lease or metered facilities.
  • Monitor and check calibration of the tanks, pumps, and operating systems.
  • Monitors stations and equipment during operational activities to ensure proper function.
  • Monitor active custody transfer skids for integrity and functionality.
  • Unload Rail Cars at the El Dorado Refinery
  • Assist with one-calls, public awareness, and maintenance repair activities, this includes valve inspections.
  • Report maintenance issues to generate work orders as need to keep systems functioning properly.
  • Responsible for performing related line displacement, meter proving, gauging, product testing/sampling, record keeping, housekeeping, minor maintenance, and other duties.
  • Supports technical personnel in performing general maintenance and troubleshooting on operational equipment.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory directives.
  • Communicate with ROW mowing crew and aerial patrol so ROWs are visible for aerial patrol.
  • Become familiar with pipelines, block valve locations, stations, and other assets
  • Provide occasional back-up for the rail offload system
  • Must possess or obtain DOT Operator Qualification and OSHA safety
  • Works effectively without supervision · Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment and pipeline stations.
  • Support pipeline cleaning and pigging activities, operate small pumps, repair pipeline leaks with integrity or maintenance, install and paint right-of-way markers.
  • Calculate, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including, but not limited to: liquid flow and quality, Maintenance and/or repair logs, Product Samples, Pipeline/corrosion activities, Appropriate regulatory requirements, and Construction inspection
  • Job may require physical activities such as walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment, areas of loose rock and working in confined spaces. Also must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight unassisted.
  • Perform station upkeep, including mowing and weed control
