<span 72="">Role Summary
<span 72="">The Refinery Operations Manager will supervise employees in our facility, ensuring its effective operation by coordinating and directing employees, assigning tasks, coordinating the flow of work and assigned projects, overseeing completion of work, and monitoring performance of subordinates. This role provides oversight for the overall operation each shift, sets expectations for safety, environmental, process safety, reliable operation, and execution of the operating plan. The Shift Supervisor role provides leadership, motivation, training, and development of workforce; participates in continuous improvement activities as part of the site management team and ensures Company policies are followed in order to maintain a positive work culture.
<span 72="">Job Accountabilities
- <span 72="">Supervise, direct and lead the day-to-day activities of team within assigned area to ensure process safety, safety, environmental, reliability, and cost optimization goals of the refinery are achieved
- <span 72="">Maintain a safe and environmentally compliant operation by following, implementing and enforcing Company procedures and complying with legal regulations
- <span 72="">Lead or assist in the investigation of all injuries, accidents and near-miss incidents in assigned area
- <span 72="">Provide a clean, organized and safe work environment and maintain area with safety audits and walk-throughs
- <span 72="">Meets production operational standards by implementing production, productivity and quality standards
- <span 72="">Ensure adherence to Labor Agreement, Company policies and process standards
- <span 72="">Develop and implement cause and corrective actions for continuous improvement
- <span 72="">Oversee the operator training of new and existing staff to ensure team is fully trained in, committed to, and conduct their activities in accordance with all aspects of Company safety and quality requirements
- <span 72="">Addresses routine personnel issues including training, coaching and counseling and disciplining subordinates
- <span 72="">Utilize sound human relations and communications skills in order to motivate the assigned work force
- <span 72="">Coach, evaluate performance and develop work group to improve their performance
- <span 72="">Identify operation issues and lead improvement plans in production processes, shift schedules, overtime levels, training, etc., to improve operation efficiency
- <span 72="">Lead reliability, compliance, quality and safety programs for assigned area
- <span 72="">Accomplish goals while maintaining employee accountability, positive team morale, employee involvement, and teamwork
- <span 72="">Evaluate alternatives and make decisions in a fast-paced work environment
- <span 72="">Coordinate with maintenance to schedule equipment down time for maintenance shutdowns and preventative maintenance
- <span 72="">Other duties as assigned
<span 72="">Required Characteristics
- <span 72="">Associate’s Degree in business, science or technical discipline and three (3) years of experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role or equivalent military experience
OR - <span 72="">High School Diploma or GED/equivalent and five (5) years of experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role
- <span 72="">Demonstrated employee management and supervisor skills
- <span 72="">Ability to achieve manufacturing excellence by establishing and communicating goals
- <span 72="">Ability to manage employees and multiple priorities with deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- <span 72="">Proven ability to drive continuous improvement with fundamental understanding of change management
- <span 72="">Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
- <span 72="">Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- <span 72="">Solid verbal and written communication skills
- <span 72="">Ability to interact effectively and positively with all departments and levels of Company personnel
- <span 72="">Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all work situations
- <span 72="">Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- <span 72="">Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule, holidays and overtime as required
- <span 72="">Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- <span 72="">Strong attention to detail
- <span 72="">Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- <span 72="">Must pass drug test and background check
<span 72="">
Desired Characteristics
- <span 72="">Bachelor's Degree in business, science or technical discipline
- <span 72="">Five (5) years of experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role or equivalent military experience
- <span 72="">Four (4) years of experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or industrial facility
- <span 72="">Demonstrated experienced in managing in an union environment
- <span 72="">Proven knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA and Environmental regulations
- <span 72="">Knowledgeable in refining process
- <span 72="">Proficient with SAP
- <span 72="">Strong skills in areas of: operational analysis, budget, problem solving, project management, communication, organizational and leadership
- <span 72="">Knowledge/experience with 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
- <span 72="">OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification
