Master Machinist

Summary

As a Master Craftsman-Machinist, your objective is to provide top-quality fabrication support as part of the rotating equipment team at El Dorado refinery. You must demonstrate a strong commitment to safe, reliable, and environmentally sound operations in every task you undertake.

 

Reports to: You will report to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Compliance with all applicable El Dorado Refinery policies and procedures.
  • Completing rotating equipment work orders and properly documenting all repairs.
  • Safely operating forklifts after training.
  • Understanding and demonstrating good rigging and signaling practices after training.
  • Acting as a lead crewman and/or set-up supervisor.
  • Being available for on-call duties as required.
  • Completing additional training in millwright activities to support the rotating equipment team such as proper use of laser alignment and torquing equipment.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited machinist apprenticeship program (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to remain composed in difficult situations.
  • Computer skills utilizing current CMMS system.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using intricate measuring equipment such as outside/inside/depth micrometers, vernier calipers, telescoping, and bore gages.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing operations using engine lathes, vertical milling machines, radial drills, band saws, pedestal, and tool grinders to manufacture parts used in refurbishing rotating equipment.
  • Proficiency in close-tolerance machining of parts such as wearing rings, shafts, threaded components, and fabrications from drawings and/or used components.
