The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.
JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Development Engineer will perform conceptual-level engineering design during the development of projects for new Greenfield assets, and major brownfield facility upgrades and expansions associated with the Company’s hazardous liquids midstream pipelines, terminals, facilities, trucking stations, loading racks, and gas processing facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enforce and maintain company safety policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, and for the safety of company assets, employees, and the public.
- Support the Project Management Office (PMO) in developing conceptual-level engineering deliverables.
- In collaboration with the Process Engineering group, carry out conceptual-level system-optimization modelling and perform engineering studies up to the preliminary design phase of the development process.
- Manage production forecast information from Producers and consistently maintain and publicize an overview of system and process bottlenecks using dashboards.
- Work closely with the Run Engineering (Ops Support) group to maintain knowledge of current system status
- On larger projects, carry out hydraulic modelling, develop process diagrams (PFDs and PIDs), preliminary design of process equipment, piping and pipeline sizing. Generate equipment lists, high level C&E and ESD logic in line with proposed conceptual engineering projects.
- Assist in the development of engineering standards, specifications, and policies & procedures required to optimize project delivery.
- Coordinate within Engineering, and with Capital Projects, Commercial, and Procurement departments to optimize and expand assets in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide information and feedback on engineering, construction, and operating plans, and related vendor agreements.
- Develop, promote and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and all departments within the company.
- Provide analytics and other information and feedback to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Education
- 10-15 years of midstream pipeline and/or gas processing experience is preferred, or 15+ years of refining, petrochemical, or upstream oil & gas experience required
- At least 5 years’ experience working in front-end conceptual engineering.
- College graduate with a four-year Bachelor’s Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering
- Deep knowledge of API and related industry standards and best practices
- Willing to attend and participate industry-sponsored conferences, seminars, training, and summits.
- Working knowledge of PHMSA regulations, DOT Part 195, TX Railroad Commission, BLM, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 design codes, and API Recommended Practices
- Overnight travel to company locations and facilities for meetings, training, special projects, emergency planning, or information gathering will be required.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
- Must be willing to submit to DOT random drug & alcohol screening
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in an ABET-Engineering program
- Chemical Engineer preferred.
- 15+ years broad industry experience
- Knowledge of probabilistic modelling and statistics a plus.
- Experience with AVEVA PI and MS Power BI a plus
- A Professional Engineering Licensure is desirable
