Senior Field Network Engineer (Dallas)

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

 

Sr. Field Network Engineer

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deploy company LANs, WANs and wireless networks, including routers, switches, UPSs and other hardware.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth, reliable and optimal operation.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS and Cisco TAC
  • Ensure upgrades of all network hardware and related software is performed timely.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Maintain network performance history and provide network performance statistics and reports. Investigate & suggest applicable monitoring software.
  • Collaborate with executive management and others within the IT Department to assess current and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Create new and maintain current documentation.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all telephony equipment, and other network appliances.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions.
  • Participate in the on-call technical support rotation.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information and other sensitive company data.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5–7 years of hands-on networking experience required.
  • Understanding of Cisco VOIP
  • Understand Cisco Call Manager
  • Cisco, Meraki experience preferred
  • Experience with Cisco switches
  • Understanding of the OSI model
  • Ability to document with Visio and /or Microsoft Software
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and hardware
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
  • Ability to configure, implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices including:
    • Wireless Access Points
    • Routers
    • Switches
    • Cradlepoint Wireless
    • SD-WAN devices
  • Ability to troubleshoot Physical Layer issue (Fiber Optic/Copper)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% or more if needed
