Project Scheduler

Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Role Summary

The Project Scheduler is the lead in planning and scheduling for key projects across the Business Unit.  The scheduler will provide planning and scheduling assistance at the project level, delivering reporting, progress and similar metrics.  The project scheduler will be a part of the capital projects group in Dallas, TX and assigned to support various projects.

 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Prepares and maintains the project overall schedule
  • Reviews contractor schedules (engineering, suppliers, and construction) and integrates into project schedule as required, recommends necessary changes
  • Involved with early strategy scheduling through project completion
  • Works closely with cost control resources for overall project control
  • Assists Delek construction or TA resources in detail scheduling, as required
  • Prepares schedule updates reports, schedule progress, critical path, resource or staffing status, and narrative on trends, issues, risks, and mitigation
  • Assembles data from variety of sources (i.e. construction project team, engineers, project team, clients, and sub-contractors)
  • Develops, monitors, and updates integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible
  • Performs tasks required to develop and maintain project schedules, including but not limited to collecting as-built information, assessing progress data supplied by others and visual inspections
  • Prepares baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project team
  • Prepares schedule updates and project look ahead reports, collaborating with the Delek team, contractors and others Delek resources as needed
  • Assesses impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and reports to project team
  • Monitors schedule deviations and variances and assists in the developing of alternative methods for corrective action
  • Prepares and provides schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis
  • Assures credibility of the information contained in the schedule
  • Reviews schedules with the project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule
  • Analyzes change orders for the schedule impacts
  • Performs job-site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities, as required
  • Facilitates project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required by the project team
  • Participates in project meetings at the discretion of the Project Manager
  • Assists Project Manager with resource allocations and constraints, schedule, and critical-path analysis, earned value reporting
  • Captures lessons learned with respect to planning and scheduling and use findings to continuously improve Company procedures and tools

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance or Accounting or related areas
  • Five or more years of scheduling project control experience, schedule development, schedule monitoring, progressing and tracking, and reporting. 
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Projects project management application
  • Diverse experience:
    • Project size experience, small and large efforts of planning and scheduling, up to $100M
    • Project complexity, highly complex and also simplicity in approach
    • Project type, experience with planning and scheduling for infrastructure projects (buildings, power upgrades, etc.), refining or similar production improvement related project (debottleneck or expansion), enterprise wide migration projects (SAP enhancements, accounting migrations to new systems, and similar)
  • Demonstrated experience with contractor scheduling as well as owner’s needs for scheduling, and knowledge for merging these together for success of the project.
  • Experience with contractor scheduling to include best practices, and proven ability in recommending improvements when needed for project success.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and complete multiple tasks, collaborating with diverse teams
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written forms, with all levels of the organization including Executive Management, vendors and contractors
  • Must be Legally Authorized­ to Work in the United States

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Scheduling certifications; SP (Scheduling Professional) with PMI organization; PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional) from AACE organization; or similar
  • Portfolio management level planning and scheduling
