Job Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise during the development and construction of new Greenfield assets and major brownfield facility upgrades and expansions associated with the Company’s hazardous liquids and gas midstream pipelines, oil terminals, gas plant and water facilities.
The Process Engineer will also support DKL Operations when troubleshooting operational issues across existing DKL facilities with a particular focus on optimization of gathering systems in West Texas and New Mexico.
The Process Engineer will regularly interface with other senior leaders within Delek Logistics Technical Services.
The Process Engineer shall manage activities related to project engineering support and continually interface with other organizations (business development, operations, finance, procurement, EHS, etc.), and contract for and supervise 3rd party personnel as required to meet the business unit’s objectives. They shall consult with Capital Projects teams responsible for the development and construction of new Greenfield assets and major brownfield facility upgrades and expansions.
The Process Engineer must balance the needs of various internal customers with frequently conflicting and overlapping priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, and for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
- Enforce and maintain company safety policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Monitor projects/activities to assure overall conformance to engineering standards, company and operations plans and objectives, as well as related contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Carry out hydraulic and process modelling using Hysys-Hydraulics and ProMax Software, develop process diagrams (PFDs and PIDs), preliminary design of process equipment, piping and pipeline sizing.
- In collaboration with discipline SMEs and Operations personnel in DKLs control center and in the field, troubleshoot operational issues associated with rotating equipment, overpressure protection devices, and control systems.
- Using Process Engineering knowledge and experience, optimize the operation of gas plants and gathering systems.
- Assist with oil LACTs (Lease Acquisition Custody Transfer) and transfer pump design and operation.
- Assist in the development of engineering standards, specifications, and policies & procedures required to optimize project delivery.
- Coordinate within Engineering, and with Capital Project, Commercial, and Procurement departments to optimize and expand assets in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide information and feedback on engineering, construction, and operating plans, and related vendor agreements.
- Develop, promote, and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and all departments within the company.
- Complete capital and project reporting and analysis requests.
- Provide analytics and other information and feedback to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Education
- 5-8 years of oil and/or gas midstream industry experience is preferred, or 7+ years of refining, petrochemical, gas midstream or upstream oil & gas experience required
- College graduate with a four-year Bachelor’s Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
- Hands-on knowledge of various chemical engineering software HYSYS – Hydraulics nodal network gathering systems and ProMax for gas plant simulations
- SCADA and data collection a plus
- Knowledge of API and related industry standards and best practices
- Willing to attend and participate industry-sponsored conferences, seminars, training, and summits.
- Working knowledge of PHMSA regulations, DOT Part 195, ASME B31.3, B31.8 and B31.4 design standards, and API Recommended Practices
- Overnight travel to company locations and facilities for meetings, training, special projects, emergency planning, or information gathering will be required.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
- Must be willing to submit to DOT random drug & alcohol screening
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of operating company engineering experience
- Professional Engineering Licensure is desirable
