POSITION SUMMARY
The Legal Counsel will provide legal support to the company’s US retail (c-stores) and fuels operations, collaborating with the global legal team (Europe, Latin America, and Mexico). This role involves conducting legal research, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, advising on complex legal issues, and supporting strategic business initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the Texas Bar, and significant experience in a legal capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and contracts.
• Provide legal counsel on a broad range of issues, including corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to inform business decisions and support legal strategies.
• Manage litigation and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly those relevant to the retail and fuels industries.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
• Advise senior management and stakeholders on legal risks, opportunities, and best practices.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional, international teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• Six (6) or more years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience in the retail and/or fuels industries is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law.
• Exceptional research, writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and software.
