Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing.  The refining assets consist of refineries operated in Tyler and Big Spring, Texas, El Dorado, Arkansas and Krotz Springs, Louisiana with a combined nameplate crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day.

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Delek has built a center-led procurement organization to support all of its business units, including refinery operations, transportation and logistics, pipelines and terminals, retail operations and the corporate support center.

The Category Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing and procurement strategy for the convenience store retail business segment. This person will provide leadership from a procurement perspective, and collaborate with business partners to consider new strategies to create value. This role reports to the Director of Procurement.

The ideal candidate will be a polished, energetic professional and hands-on team player capable of managing competing priorities associated with the Delek Procurement function. Good people skills are important as this position interacts with a variety of stakeholders and will need to be able to clearly communicate ideas and strategies, collaborate and seek alignment with stakeholders, influence decisions and manage expectations across the company. Flexibility and a positive attitude are also important as we continue to build the team and build new processes. Ingenuity, collaboration, and creativity, rather than maintaining precedence, will determine our success.

 

Steers business units and development related sourcing initiatives for the company with the goal of achieving cost reductions in, the total cost of goods and services, increase total % of spend with preferred suppliers, as well as in maintaining or improving quality and supplier service levels. Aligns with other departments and/or business units in supporting their strategies and processes while maximizing the company’s buying potential and savings opportunities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the SME for a range of materials and services, and manages categories from a procurement standpoint.
  • Performs spend analysis based on a variety of relevant information, prepare financial models, identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings, and present business case and recommendations to Director of Procurement.
  • Propose best sourcing strategy (e.g. RFP, renegotiation, outsource) and lead in executing the strategy
  • Negotiate and manage commercial contracts, contract compliance, with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Interact with business partners to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships, security of supply, risk management, and innovation.
  • Manage supplier performance for continuous improvement, quality, value, and supplier scorecards
  • Keep abreast of changing business requirements and market conditions.
  • Support the company goals and objectives.
  • Support the implementation of new procurement systems, policies, and processes
  • Track and report cost savings, cost avoidance, process improvements, and other KPIs.
  • Network to facilitate competitive intelligence including best practices, emerging / potential sources of competitive advantage, market pricing, benchmarking
  • Be recognized by business partners for supporting their strategy and driving value

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS)
  • 5+ years of experience is preferred; Experience in the Retail segment is preferred;
  • Experience with and knowledge of relevant processes, suppliers, and industry standards.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting techniques and evaluation criteria, and ensure that project goals, schedules and performance requirements are achieved
  • Exceptional negotiations skills
  • Fluency in contract terms and conditions, contract development and contract management
  • Financial analysis and value / TCO analysis
  • Strategic, long term critical thinking and planning
  • An understanding of supply risk management and its implications
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including executive levels of management
  • Ability to drive decisions through influence
  • Bias for action and urgency
  • Experience with success on sourcing multiple categories for a national, multi-location organization including: managing RFP's, supplier relationships, contract compliance, etc.
  • Experience in the Retail segment is preferred;
  • Driven to learn and expand one’s knowledge of Procurement and business in general
  • Ability to travel as needed – 20% - 30%
