Job Summary:
The Senior Lease Accountant is responsible for performing the accounting and reporting of the company’s leases, reconciliations, researching lease-related accounting matters, and assisting with lease accounting process improvements. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of ASC 842 standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the company's adherence to ASC 842 lease accounting standards by accurately recording and reporting lease transactions, including lease classifications, calculations of lease liabilities, and right-of-use assets.
- Perform detailed and accurate lease-related reconciliations, collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and rectify discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance lease accounting processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the accuracy of lease-related financial information.
- Investigate complex lease accounting matters and other related financial issues, provide well-researched recommendations and solutions to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and review of lease-related financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures, ensure compliance with both internal and external reporting requirements.
- Work closely with various departments to gather relevant lease data, review contracts, and ensure alignment between financial and operational aspects of lease management.
- Maintain organized and comprehensive documentation of lease agreements, accounting treatments, and supporting data to facilitate audits and internal reviews.
- Stay current with changes in lease accounting standards and regulations, provide guidance and training to the finance team and other stakeholders as needed.
Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
- At least 2 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study required
- Experience with lease accounting software
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
- CPA designation preferred.
