Sr Internal Auditor

Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, asphalt, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing. We are hiring for the position of Senior Internal Auditor located in our Brentwood, Tennessee corporate office.

The Internal Audit Services team is valued and respected throughout the Company.  This position allows career growth in the internal audit field or can be used as a platform to move into other areas of the Company.  This salaried position offers attractive work-life balance and is semi-remote. 

The Senior Internal Auditor will ensure that individual audit projects from a risk-based audit plan meet expected audit objectives and are executed efficiently.  This professional will participate in and lead multiple projects in a team-based environment.  The role will support both our financial audit (SOX) and operational audit teams.  This role requires the ability to effectively plan, lead, and execute internal audit projects.  The successful candidate will have direct interaction with senior management, business unit management, process owners, information technology teams, and external auditors.  Additionally, this team member should have strong communication skills, a team-building attitude, and the ability to lead multiple projects at once.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Company’s strategy and assist with identifying key business objectives and initiatives which support that strategy.
  • Execute the audit process including planning, interviewing, identifying risks and controls, establishing objectives and scope of work, developing testing approaches and work programs, preparing work papers and drafting reports with value added recommendations for all audit types including operational, compliance, financial, and fraud.
  • Participate in projects and control testing related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance, as needed.
  • Perform substantive or other required testing on behalf of our external auditor, as needed.
  • Ensure conformance with acceptable audit standards, plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with management, peers, internal audit staff, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to successfully develop and supervise other team members, as needed. 


Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess the highest degree of integrity and ethical values.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including effective listening.
  • Extensive skill in planning, organizing, project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Proven ability to execute audits for areas not previously audited, including the identification of risks, controls, sources of information, key stakeholders, etc.
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and take ownership of projects.  Able to work well within a self-directed, team-based environment.
  • Skilled in negotiating issues and resolving problems with various stakeholders at all levels.


Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree (MAcc or MBA) preferred.
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Prior internal audit experience (including relevant internships) preferred.
  • Strong data analysis skills preferred. Experience with data analysis tools such as ACL a plus. 
  • Experience with SOX Compliance preferred.
  • IT Audit experience a plus.
  • Prior SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience in the energy industry a plus
