Sr Category Manager - Transportation & Logistics

ROLE SUMMARY
The Senior Category Manager (Transportation & Logistics) will be Responsible for the development and execution of category strategies for Transportation and Logistics services, including 3rd party carriers as well as specific goods and services associated with the operations and maintenance of company-owned Transportation assets. Creates category plans and strategic sourcing initiatives, in support of leveraging third party spend and creating value for Delek US. Conducts analysis and market intelligence to identify and leverage key opportunities that deliver value, optimize supplier pool, optimize mode and utilization, and mitigates risk to the business. Collaborates with key stakeholders, including Commercial and site personnel, internal and external customers to deliver category strategies and strategic sourcing initiatives, while utilizing rigorous category management tools, processes and systems. Communicates and aligns with stakeholders on an on-going basis, regarding requirements, progress, changes and status updates with a specific focus on Transportation and Logistics Services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic sourcing, negotiations, and transportation operations, with proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating across the business. This role will report to the Sr. Director – Category Management and can work remotely, Tennessee and Texas preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages Transportation & Logistics categories to optimize the supply base and deliver financial benefit to the business, supported by category plans and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Executes strategic sourcing processes from market intelligence, business base-case and development of scope, to commercial negotiations, supplier selection and contract execution.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders (Operations/Commercial/Technical), contract administrators, and relevant category managers, to:

- Develop, execute, and manage multiple category plans and strategies
- Conduct ongoing market analysis and leverage supply chain knowledge to understand and articulate market trends and spend analytics
- Execute sourcing initiatives that are aligned to business objectives and deliver value

- Conducts economic analysis, cost modeling, TCO analysis in support of strategic sourcing events & bid evaluation. Develops credible business case for sourcing initiatives, supported by market data, commercial objectivity and relevant business and technical factors
- Works with stakeholders to understand the demand/spend profile of category and sub- categories, as well as risks and business requirements for category plans and sourcing projects.
- Continuously communicates to and aligns with stakeholders on category initiatives changes and status updates, including implementation plans and category metrics.
- Understands BU/site operational and transactional SCM activities to ensure alignment with category strategies.
- Actively seeks and identifies opportunities for value creation (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction, within Transportation & Logistics categories of spend.
- Utilizes supply chain tools, templates and systems, as prescribed by the SCM Function.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Minimum BS/BA degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or relevant field.
- Masters or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible transportation/logistics, procurement, supply chain, commercial, contract development, contract management, risk or relevant area experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Category Management and Strategic Sourcing in Transportation & Logistics
- Minimum of 3 years process related industry, with oil & gas experience preferred
- Preferred experience and successful engagement with the following:
- Leading commercial sourcing and contract negotiations for all primary modes of transportation including Truck, Rail, Bulk, and Intermodal.
- Leasing, subleasing, and purchasing of transportation equipment including tractors, trailers, and rail cars
- Equipment lease vs. buy analysis
- Management of transportation contracts and freight rates
- Transportation Management Systems
- Freight Audit & Payment providers
- Freight Forwarders/Brokers and 3PLs
- Route and mode optimization
- Truck maintenance services and materials
SKILLS
- Must be a strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and analytical skills are required
- Demonstrated ability to drive change with a focus on continuous improvement
