The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.


Job Summary:

The General Accountant Supervisor will report to our Sr. Manager, Commerical Accounting with a primary focus on gross margin and inventory accounting.


The role involves performing inventory accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts, as well as financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and inventory schedules. This General Accountant Supervisor will be responsible for preparing, recording, analyzing, and reporting accounting transactions, ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Additionally, this role will provide financial support through forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from the budget. This role also includes analyzing and preparing statutory accounts, financial statements, and reports, as well as conducting or assisting in the documentation of accounting projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee commercial accounting areas to ensure proper recording of transactions and balances in the general ledger system, adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies.
  • Review work papers related to gross margin and inventory accounting prepared by Staff and Senior level Accountants.
  • Proactively identify, research, and resolve accounting issues during month-end close.
  • Assist Accounting Leadership in developing internal customer relations with all departments across subsidiaries and managing related accounting and third-party relationships for accurate and timely support financial information requests.
  • Prepare and review general journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Document and ensure performance of assigned controls.
  • Lead accounting direct reports effectively coaching, training, managing deadlines, and addressing queries to ensure optimal performance and collaboration.
  • Support quarterly and annual external audit requirements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc gross margin analysis for management as required.


Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
At least 5 years of related experience.

Bachelor's degree in a related field (Accounting) is required.  


Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

Master’s or MBA degree is typically preferred.

CPA designation is desired.

Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is preferred.

Inventory Accounting experience, including familiarity with FIFO inventory accounting method and LCM.

SAP experience is a plus.
