JOB SUMMARY

Conducts and oversees accounting and financial analyses. Develops and prepares the organization's financial plans, budgets, financial reports, and tax returns. Maintains good corporate relations with the investment and banking communities. This role involves leading the monthly accounting closing process, establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and acting as a thought leader in specific subject matter areas and accounting policies. The Director, Accounting collaborates closely with Business Customers to ensure mutual goals and reporting requirements are met, providing ongoing business support, value, and implementing best practices in the close process and reporting of accounting results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Six (6) or more years Experience in leadership role. (Required)
  • Six (6) or more years Experience in Oil and Gas. (Preferred)
  • Ten (10) or more years Experience in Accounting (Required)
  • Required Certifications/Licensures: (Certified Public Accountant (CPA))

  • Review monthly close cycle performance and partner with the Corporate Controller to lead initiatives that improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of the close process through enhanced procedures, controls, and systems.
  • Lead the accounting teams responsible for key functions which impact expense accounting, capitalization, intercompany transactions and the balance sheet.
  • Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Identify and propose adjusting journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Lead the accounting for GR/IR, trade payables, trade receivables, and first purchaser activity, ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust controls over high-volume, material accounting transactions.
  • Own the accounting oversight of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Travel & Entertainment (T&E) systems, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policy.
  • Manage the daily execution and performance of accounting operations delivered by a third-party managed services provider, with a focus on process quality, internal controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Direct the design, execution, and enhancement of accounting processes and workflows for accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, billing, first purchaser, and intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee accounting support for integration activities related to acquisitions and divestitures, ensuring financial system readiness, cutover alignment, and reporting integrity.
  • Maintain ownership of billions of dollars in billing and payment activity annually, including intercompany settlements, ensuring transparency, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Transportation, Commercial, HR, Legal, and other corporate functions to enhance end-to-end accounting processes, drive efficiency, and support strategic cost management.
  • Provide accounting leadership for system implementations, process automation, and internal control design across operational and financial workflows.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performing, accountable culture that supports career growth and technical excellence.
  • Role requires a CPA with strong technical accounting knowledge; prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) and industry experience leading complex accounting operations is highly desirable.
