Sr Project Engineer

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Job Summary:
Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management and troubleshooting for engineering projects. Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.

Job Responsibilities:
-Provides engineering support during project development (Appraise and Select stages) by vetting resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts and risk assessment for proposed development concepts. Conducts project feasibility and economic analyses. Prepares budgets, cost estimates and Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs).
-During Define state performs design calculations and oversees contractors in preparation of detailed engineering design. Generates construction packages.
-Defines technical specifications for equipment. Completes hazard, operability and maintainability reviews. Coordinates preparation of environmental management plan with EHS.
-Prepares resource forecasts (funding, equipment, materials, facilities, contractors, company personnel) and finalizes Project Execution Plan. Completes risk response plan.
-Collaborates with Procurement to develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies to meet project requirements. Defines technical specifications for equipment and materials acquisition. Provides input into contractor pre-qualification process. Evaluates bids and selects bidders.

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
At least 5 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Master's or MBA degree typically preferred.

Organizational Leveling:
Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Solves complex problems. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for those with less experience. Level at which career may stabilize for many years or until retirement.
