The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Reliability will oversee the continuous enhancements of fixed equipment, rotating equipment, and electrical components by ensuring the safety and reliability of equipment through proper design and defect elimination. This role involves directing and supporting the Reliability Engineering team regarding day-to-day operations team requests & projects, as well as individually contributing when needed by performing code calculation, reliability analytics and root cause failure analysis (RCFA). Additionally, the Senior Manager will diligently establish, document, and monitor corrective measures, while generating routine reports and fostering seamless communication across diverse functional groups within the organization.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of reliability engineers and experts, shaping a multi-year strategy to identify and mitigate asset reliability risks which could adversely affect refinery operations by fostering communication and alignment of reliability initiatives throughout cross-functional departments.
  • Define, prioritize, and implement programs and processes consistent with and in support of refinery’s reliability targets ensuring risk is appropriately managed.
  • Provide technical leadership of reliability engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Create sustained focus on root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) processes to proactively pursue risk reduction and defect elimination.
  • Oversee proactive reliability studies and analyze metrics to identify asset performance trends, using insights to address potential issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Represent the refinery in industry networks, contributing to best practice development and standards by maintaining and updating site reliability availability and maintainability study.
  • Collaborate with Operations to uphold reliability programs, ensuring sustainability including equipment monitoring, structured rounds and reliability operating practices.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to identify and ensure relevant engineering standards are followed for equipment repairs and upgrades.
  • Partners with refinery Projects Groups to evaluate and select new and upgraded equipment installations based on engineering standards and site-standing instructions.
  • Manage staff by offering technical guidance and leadership by mentoring while ensuring compliance with corporate standards & human resources policies.
  • Oversee department strategic and operational budgets, exercising financial stewardship to control expenditures while prioritizing, synchronizing, and optimizing resource allocation to achieve operational plan.
  • Manage reliability improvement scopes by supporting turnaround team from engineering initiatives for turnaround planning.

 

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Proficiency in API (510, 570, 653, 580, etc.) & ASME (Section I, Section VIII Div I, B31.3/B31.1, etc.) standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills, & Experience:

10 years of experience in the refining industry preferred.

Master's or MBA degree typically preferred.
