Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Process Engineering will report to the Director, Technical Process and will be responsible for developing and modifing process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards by recommending and implementing improvements, modifications or additions to document work. Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules. Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.  

Job Responsibilities: 
- Manages performance monitoring including, but not limited to, development and evaluation of unitspecific metrics such as energy consumptions, yields, catalyst usage/performance. Develops and communicates unit-specific key performance indicators. Ensures timely troubleshooting and resolution of operational and process quality problems. Seeks and develops opportunities to improve unit(s) reliability and efficiency based on engineering studies such as unit debottlenecking, catalyst replacement assessments. Champions capital improvements for inclusion in 5-year capital plan. 
- Collaborates with optimization and production team consisting of Operations, Maintenance, EHS (environmental, health and safety), Inspection, and Planning departments to establish unit-specific production targets in support of refinery’s production plan. Stewards activities/actions to achieve targets. 
- Provides process engineering support for projects and turnarounds. 
- Ensures process safety and risk management principles incorporated into foundation of unit operations. Assures compliance to process safety management program. Develops and implements strategies that address Process Hazard Analysis recommendations. 
- Provides process engineering support for corrosion studies, material selection reviews, defect elimination teams, and other mechanical integrity and reliability initiatives. 
- Manages staff. Ensures functional competency through development of staff’s technical knowledge and skills. Initiates selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate. Applies human resources policies fairly and uniformly. 
- Prepares unit budget and input into Technical Services’ departmental budget. Exercises financial stewardship to control expenditures. 

 

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience: 
At least 10 years of related experience in Prrocess Engineering w/ 2+ years in a leadership role in refining industry required. 

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience: 

- Master's or MBA degree typically preferred.
