JOB SUMMARY

Conducts safety audits of buildings, facilities, tools and equipment. Determines safety training requirements and provides employees with safety training applicable to their work processes. Investigates accidents to determine the root cause, circumstances and contributing factors. Develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrence. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of government safety regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years Experience in a related field (Required)
  • Required CertIfications/Licensures: (Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to company and insurers., HAZWOPER 40-hr certification)

Some travel required in assigned region. Occasional overnight may be required., Possible incident investigations could require working in a variety of weather conditions

  • Provide expert guidance and counseling on safety related issues for day to day refinery activities by participating in safety meetings, audits and training
  • Apply specific regulatory knowledge and work closely with refinery personnel and management to assure regulatory compliance
  • Conduct incident investigations, prepare written incident investigation reports, and assists in development of corrective actions
  • Maintain, organize and report safety KPIs including leading and lagging indicators for measurement of refinery safety performance
  • Attend and present safety information at Staff meetings, Contractor Safety Meetings, etc.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA and PHMSA compliance
  • Utilize ELD and other technology portals for the management of Driver safety systems
  • Facilitate Pre Job Safety Checklist Reviews
  • Issue Safety Permits for Projects (Safe Work Permit/Hot Work) and/or ensure Operations personnel are trained to issue permits
  • Issues Permit Required Confined Space Entry Permits under guidance from SR Safety Specialist
  • Project Safety Oversight and Contractor Safety Management
  • Field Visits to Terminal/Pipeline locations in the Regions
  • Safety Oversight for the Region under guidance from Sr Safety Specialist or Health and Safety Manager
  • Provide direction to Operations on documentation of the safety Program: Safety Files (SDS, PPE, Hazard Assessment, SWP, JSA)
  • Incident Response and Investigation (including supporting emergency response operations)
  • Participate in policy development as needed
  • Participate in EHS projects as directed
  • Daily Contact with Operation
  • Spill Response
  • Function as Safety Officer; prepare SSP for spill response under guidance of Senior Safety Specialist
