The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Job Summary:

The Turnaround Planner reports directly to the Turnaround Maintenance Coordinator and supports the department’s turnaround planning processes, conforming to company standards and world-class best practices. The main responsibility of the Turnaround Planner is to produce quality Electrical and Instrumentation work packs in support of the turnaround function, identifying the tasks and labor required to execute the work safely and efficiently, as well as all associated materials and equipment. This position will also be responsible for developing and updating turnaround job plans and preventive maintenance instructions (PMs), coordinating with procurement, and ensuring the availability of required materials, tools, and equipment. During turnaround events, the incumbent is required to support field personnel and turnaround management organization through field supervision, information sharing and logistics coordination. This position requires close coordination with Maintenance personnel, as well as with the Production, Technical Services, Supply Chain Management, and HSSE departments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage turnaround E&I turnaround work orders, from the moment work, is identified until it can be handed over to a turnaround scheduler.
  • Develop detailed job plans, identifying required manpower, materials, equipment, and services. Perform accurate job cost estimates.
  • Support the development of risk assessments for the turnaround jobs.
  • Identify materials, equipment, and services required to execute the planned jobs. Coordinate with the Procurement department to ensure all materials, equipment, and services are available before the work is ready for scheduling.
  • Create and update standard turnaround job plans and PMs and maintain the job plan library to ensure improved efficiency of turnaround events.
  • Adhere to established work processes and practices. Ensure compliance with the Control of Work processes, including permitting, isolations, and risk identification, as well as other Cheniere’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards relating to the safe, environmentally sound, timely, and cost-effective planning of facility turnarounds.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning turnaround events. Provide guidance and recommendations for improving planning and scheduling procedures.
  • Work with other departments to ensure that an effective and efficient planning process is in place and utilized by all departments and that risks associated with the jobs are properly identified and understood.
  • Support the successful execution of turnarounds, monitor and report work progress, identify potential issues and capture lessons learned.
  • Support the development of medium and long-term turnaround plans.
  • Attend all scheduled training and support training and the onboard process for new employees.

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Education and Certifications: Relevant technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a natural gas plant, a petrochemical plant, or a refinery is required. At least 5 years of experience with planning or leading the execution of Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance work is required.

Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Possess broad knowledge of oil and gas industry and practices, including safety, environmental, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations, and associated codes and standards. Knowledge and demonstrated experience with planning, leading or executing industrial maintenance work. Possess knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.

  • Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities. Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:


  • Turnaround Planner is required to be available for stand-by duty on weekends and after hours.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or hear, smell, type, and write.
  • Must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to work longer than normal hours during turnaround events.
