Measurement Technician

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.



The Measurement Technician is responsible for supporting day to day measurement operations.  The Measurement Tech will be responsible for commissioning, testing, operating, maintaining and inspecting flow meters on the pipelines and facilities located in their region.  The Measurement Technician will work with E & I, mechanical techs and operations control to ensure their work is planned and carried out to keep the system operating in a safe, cost-efficient manner.  The Measurement Technicial is responsible for various system critical measurement operations within the system.




  • An aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on assigned measurement and ancillary liquids equipment.
  • Maintains assigned equipment including liquid meters, regulators and relief valves, RTU & SCADA equipment and related communication equipment, valves and valve operators, and auxiliary equipment such as electrical generators in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform meter performance verifications using portable and/or stationary provers.
  • Perform density verifications using a Hydrometer.
  • Perform calibrations, inspections and maintenance of all instrumentation related to quality and quantity determination.
  • Witness meter performance verifications as performed by third party contractors, as needed.
  • Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment, including; Meters, stationary & portable provers, samplers, flow computers and other peripheral measurement-related devices.
  • Understand; system balance processes, ticket writing, statistical meter factor tracking, and verification and calibration of measurement equipment.
  • Troubleshoot measurement over and short errors system wide
  • Assist with all facility construction and modifications, understanding the impacts as they relate to the measurement equipment.
  • Assist with Internal and external measurement audits.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Must meet the requirements of the Company’s Operator Qualification program to perform identified covered tasks and remain compliant.
  • Support daily pipeline operations as training and qualifications allow
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, and API requirements and procedures.




  • A high school diploma or general equivalency. College or technical trade school degree, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with customer base.
  • Must possess proficient math skills.
  • 2-5 years practical experience in relation to operating and maintenance requirements for liquid measurement equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in measurement which include the following: volumetric meter based measurement systems, turbine meters, coriolis meters, ultra-sonic meters and positive displacement meters etc.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with meter provers, (conventional ball provers, small volume ballistic provers)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with flow computers, (OMNI, ROC, Spirit)
  • PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Must have a proven safe driving record and maintain a valid driver’s license and be subject to U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol related regulations.
  • Driving hrs/day (not to exceed DOT regulations)
