The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Job Summary:
The I & E Design Engineer is responsible for designing instrumentation and electrical controls portion of a project. This includes working with process engineers, maintenance superintendents, operations superintendents, and safety and environmental personnel to ensure that all considerations have been evaluated and considered. Then using existing technical drawings the engineer will supply a finished project package for either in-house personnel or outside contractors to implement. The engineer is also responsible for any additional technical support during the installation to final operation of the new or modified system. Proficiency is maintained by attending in-house training, outside schools and conferences in the fields of instrumentation, process control engineering, and computer drafting software. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    The position requires a strong team player, someone who is self-motivating with a positive “can do” attitude.  
•    Plan, design, and write specifications for process controls and instrumentation.
•    Utilize company, local, state, and federal policies, regulations and accepted industrial guidelines (ISA, API, NEC, IEEE, NFPA) to prop¬er¬ly de¬sign, re¬view and implement projects and analyze operations.
•    Produce Engineering Design Documents. P&ID, Instrument wiring, Power One lines, Electrical Controls schematics, Instrument Wiring Drawings, Loop Drawing, Instrument Data Sheets and Network Drawings
•    Provide work scopes for project implementation.
•    Inspects field work to ensure conformance with plans and specifications; maintains proper and safe working environment.
•    Support projects by collaborating with other departments and specifying and accepting installation of instrumentation.
•    Assist in the preparation and utilization of group budget related to instrument systems in the refinery.
•    Evaluate, develop, and coordinate training related to project implementation and facility related problems.
•    Provide process control assistance, analysis of technology, and root cause analysis of instrument hardware and end device related problems.
•    Evaluate, audit, and report instrument performance related to safety, environmental, and profitability.
•    Study performance and reliability of existing equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing equipment downtime.
•    Implement end device changes to optimize liquid recovery, improve yields and energy use.
•    Create estimates and cost studies for potential projects.
•    Researches materials and concepts to advise and support technical issues influencing instrument design concept development.
•    Coordinate outside consultants in instrumentation area

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
At least 2 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Organizational Leveling:
Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities. Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
