JOB SUMMARY
The process engineer uses understanding of process fundamentals, process equipment, refinery practices, and specific technologies to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimal refinery operation while coordinating and influencing the achievement of these objectives utilizing data driven critical thinking.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ten (10) or more years Process engineering experience or equivalent ability in refining industry (Required)
- No Licensure or Certification Required.

- Supporting the refinery network, provides input into process engineering monthly report format template and may review monthly monitoring reports and provide feedback
- Conducts monthly touch base discussion format for each technology specific process unit in functional area and provides notes and receives feedback from Principal Process engineer as needed to gain further insights
- Significantly contributes to complex process technology troubleshooting, economic improvement, reliability, and safety incidents within the specific technology assigned
- Determines design improvements and collaborates with site teams to implement with oversight from Principal Process Engineer
- Develops industry leading engineering judgement for process and equipment design in technology area with mentoring from Principal Process Engineer and through attending industry conferences
- Maintains and suggests improvements for company process guide and best practices while implementing existing practices as practical; employs materials to and may deliver internal company training including operator process training classes
- Provides technical quality assurance on medium and smaller capital projects associated with technology expertise
- Interfaces with corporate LP modelling group to ensure unit constraints and yields are accurately reflected in corporate group’s linear programming model; developing tools as necessary for LP yield vector shifts maintenance
- Develops and maintains critical cross-functional relationships (i.e., refinery economics, operations, lab, maintenance, refinery leadership, etc.) to optimize unit performance to constraints
