Sr Operations Engineer - Dallas or Midland, TX

The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Sr Operations Engineer will support DKL Operations when troubleshooting operational issues across DKL’s facilities, optimize the operation of existing facilities to improve reliability, and provide input to the development of projects for brownfield facility upgrades associated with the Company’s oil and gas midstream pipelines, terminals, processing facilities, trucking stations, and loading racks. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enforce and maintain company safety policies and procedures.  Adhere to Delek’s core Company Values: Safety, Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Excellence, Maximizing Value, and Growth Oriented 
  • Stay informed and understand the regulatory process in Texas and New Mexico to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations 
  • Maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety and for the safety of the company assets, employees, and the public   
  • Rotating Equipment specific knowledge pertaining to performance enhancements, predictive maintenance and monitoring.
  • Lead equipment failure analyses and contribute to Root Cause Investigations (RCI) as SME
  • Develop optimization tools (dashboards, KPIs, etc.) to communicate rotating equipment performance.
  • Prepare and/or review deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, datasheets, design calculations 
  • Apply professional design codes and recommended practices (API, ASME, etc.) and assist in the development of company engineering standards, specifications, and policies & procedures required to support operational issues. 
  • Work closely with field personnel and multiple vendors to troubleshoot, optimize operations, plan system/equipment maintenance, etc. while maintaining project schedules and budget
  • Work closely with Development Engineering group to ensure that current system status is considered when developing growth and debottlenecking projects 
  • Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, and for the safety of company assets, employees, and the public 
  • In collaboration with discipline SMEs and Operations personnel in DKL’s control center and in the field, troubleshoot operational issues 
  • Develop, promote, and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and all departments within the company  
  • Provide analytics and other information and feedback to management 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required Education 

  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in midstream pipeline and/or gas processing, refining, petrochemical, or upstream oil & gas experience required; emphasis in rotating equipment 
  • College graduate from a four-year program with Bachelors degree in Engineering 
  • Experience in equipment reliability initiatives and project management, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Experience executing several small to medium sized projects running concurrently 
  • Deep knowledge of API and industry standards and best practices 
  • Working knowledge of PHMSA regulations, DOT 195, TX Railroad Commission, BLM, ASME B31.3/31.4/31.8 design codes, and API Recommended Practices 
  • Must be willing to travel to company locations and facilities for meetings, training, projects, planning, and information gathering. 
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license. 
  • Must be willing to submit to DOT random drug and alcohol screening. 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree in an ABET-Engineering program 
  • 10+ years’ broad industry experience. 
  • Experience with AVEVA PI and MS PowerBI a plus 
  • A Professional Engineering Licensure is desirable 
  • Vibration Analysis Certification
