JOB SUMMARY

The EHS Specialist supports emergency preparedness, response, and environmental compliance activities across pipeline, terminal, produced water, and gas processing operations. Responsibilities include emergency response planning, training and exercise coordination, incident documentation, response equipment readiness, and support during operational emergencies. The position also assists with spill response and remediation activities, including site assessments, field screening, environmental sampling, contractor coordination, regulatory reporting, and site restoration efforts.

All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, and vision of the organization. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years Experience in a related field such as Environmental Consulting, Safey, and/or Emergency Response (Required)
  • Required CertIfications/Licensures: (Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to company and insurers., HAZWOPER 40-hr certification, "Hot Zone" qualified in the ERT Medical Surveillance Program)
  • Must be willing to get drone pilot license, HAZWOPER 40 hour instructor training, CPR instructor training, and completed FEMA classes to fulfill role

  • Coordinate and oversee environmental contractors, consultants, and response resources during spill response and remediation projects to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Respond to and support environmental incidents and spills, including site assessments, GPS mapping, field screening, soil and water sampling, documentation, and remediation oversight
  • Apply specific regulatory knowledge and work closely with operations personnel and management to assure regulatory compliance
  • Conduct incident investigations, prepare written incident investigation reports, and assists in development of corrective actions
  • Monitor and manage incident notifications through Gensuite, providing timely intake, documentation, and coordination of emergency and environmental incidents across company operations on a 24/7 basis
  • Attend and present safety information at Staff meetings, Contractor Safety Meetings, etc.
  • Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, State Agencies and PHMSA compliance
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs), Offices of Emergency Management (OEMs), fire departments, and other response agencies throughout the company's operating regions
  • Facilitate Pre Job Safety Checklist Reviews
  • Support the management, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems at Libby Gas Plant (and other areas as needed) in coordination with Operations and Safety personnel
  • Assist with SPCC and Facility Response Plan (FRP) compliance activities, including plan reviews, field verifications, regulatory inspections, and maintenance of emergency response documentation
  • Project Safety Oversight and Contractor Safety Management
  • Field Visits to Terminal/Pipeline locations in the Regions
  • Deliver emergency response and preparedness training programs, including CPR/First Aid, HAZWOPER, Incident Command System (ICS), and other response-related courses
  • Provide direction to Operations on documentation of the EHS Programs: Safety Files (SDS, PPE, Hazard Assessment, SWP, JSA, SPCC, FRP, EAP)
  • Incident Response and Investigation (including supporting emergency response operations) - On Call 24/7
  • Participate in policy development as needed
  • Participate in EHS projects as directed

  • Support the company's medical surveillance and occupational health programs by coordinating new hire medical evaluations, annual compliance examinations, respiratory protection requirements, fit testing activities, and maintenance of employee medical qualification records
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives by maintaining response equipment inventories, coordinating training records, and ensuring operational readiness of response resources
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and execution of emergency response exercises, including tabletop drills, deployment drills, and full-scale exercises involving internal personnel, contractors, and external agencies
  • Participate in incident investigations, after-action reviews, corrective action tracking, and continuous improvement efforts related to emergency response, environmental compliance, and operational readiness 
  • Assist in maintaining emergency response plans, contingency plans, contact databases, and regulatory documentation to ensure compliance and response readiness across company operations 
  • Conduct and document basic security assessments of company facilities, including perimeter inspections, access control reviews, gate and fencing evaluations, emergency contact verification, and identification of potential security vulnerabilities. Assist with corrective action tracking and implementation of security improvements

This job role requires medical and other fitness for duty assessments that ensure the employee can meet the physical and technical demands of this job role while working around process equipment that handles hazardous substances associated with the Oil & Gas industry.  These requirements may include:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Pass the functional job assessment, be medically cleared, and be able to wear a respirator 
  • Climb vertical heights (ladders, stairs) up to 100 feet 
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, respirator)
