The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible to manage the scheduling processes, conforming to company standards and world-class best practices as part of an integrated operation, maintenance and reliability team.  This role schedules maintenance work efficiently in order to optimize resource utilization, minimize the duration of the work as well as the risks to the schedule while ensuring a safe and efficient execution of the work.  The Maintenance Scheduler coordinates closely with Maintenance personnel, as well as with the Operations, Technical Services, Capital Projects, and Health and Safety departments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


•             Plan and prepare work schedules that provide direction to the Maintenance Department for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance.  Make procurement recommendations for all materials needed for work package execution

•             Develop, maintain and deliver integrated maintenance schedules in support of refinery operations

•             Work with the area Operations and Maintenance staff to implement effective strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability goals, key performance indicators, and maintenance cost objectives.

•             Analyze timing options for planned work in conjunction with other departments to determine the most opportune schedule

•             Support the development of medium and long term maintenance schedules

•             Manage and support the RAM process, manage work orders, from the moment they are handed over from a planner until they are scheduled for execution, and oversee the work until completion

•             Facilitate the required preparation and coordination meetings with Maintenance, Production and other supporting departments

•             Support the coordination of service contractors

•             Work with the Planners, Maintenance Supervisors, Production Superintendents, and other key roles to prioritize and schedule work and allocate the right resources

•             Adhere to established work processes and practices when scheduling all tasks, ensuring compliance with the Control of Work processes, including permitting, isolations and risk identification, as well as other relevant Company policies and procedures.

•             Maintain a high level of standards relating to the safe, environmentally sound, timely and cost-effective scheduling of maintenance work.

•             Provide guidance and recommendations for improving planning and scheduling procedures.


Leadership Capabilities:

  • This position is a key in leading maintenance excellence and promoting a culture focused on safe, environmentally compliant, reliable and efficient operations. 

Minimum Required Education:

  • Associates Degree or two (2) year technical degree in technical or business discipline
  • OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in maintenance scheduling role in refinery, chemical, petrochemical or industrial facility

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in maintenance role in refinery, chemical, petrochemical or industrial facility
  • Working knowledge of activities in equipment maintenance
  • Experience with maintenance management systems for record-keeping and parts requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of maintenance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks in an effective manner and meet established deadlines
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of Company personnel
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces
  • Proven ability to speak, write and understand English language
  • Must pass drug test, fit-for duty test and background check
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Technical or Engineering discipline

Preferred Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a planner/scheduler utilizing a CMMS to plan and schedule maintenance
  • Five (5) years of experience in maintenance role in refinery, chemical, petrochemical or industrial facility
  • Experience with reliability improvement methods, technologies, and tools
  • Experience working with predictive maintenance tools
  • Working knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD  or other drafting knowledge
  • Knowledge of the core principles of 5-S, Six Sigma or lean manufacturing and waste reduction
