The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.

Job Summary: Supports in-service operating systems to ensure continued operation and maintenance and optimization throughout. Determines, selects and implements technically feasible and economically viable alternatives for sustainment. Analyzes and evaluates how to improve a system and/or equipment's sustainability under continued operation, maintenance and unexpected change. Develops design changes to resolve operational issues, introduces new materials, and revises product, process and test specifications to enhance product quality, design integrity, reliability and manufacturability. Collects and evaluates service use and maintenance data; conducts root-cause analyses of in-service problems (e.g., operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, and failure causes and effects) and implements corrective action.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and provide support for basic process control applications using basic application engineering skills such as point configuration, loop tuning, and identification of process dynamics.
- Identify/develop new control schemes to increase process safety/operability/profitability.
- Provide training to operations and technical staff.
- Development, design, and commissioning of MPC (Model Predictive Control) applications.

Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
At least 2 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:
- 2-7 years engineering experience in refining and/or petrochemical industry with ability to learn dynamic matrix control.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with plant operators and applying current process control theory including multivariable model-based predictive control and inferential technologies to refining process units.

- AllenBradley Control Logix, Compact Logix, FLEX IO, Foxboro I/A, Triconix.

- Knowledge of Modbus and other field device communication protocols.

- HMI and graphics development.

- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, loop sheets, spec sheets, and other industry-related technical documents.

- Understanding of cabinet design and field wiring with different field devices and instrumentation.

- PC networking theory (IP addressing, Masking, etc.).

- Cause & Effects documentation, control narratives, risk analysis, and other controls-related documentation.

 

Organizational Leveling:
Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities. Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
