SVP, Refining

Delek US Holdings, Inc. is a diversified downstream energy company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, asphalt, renewable fuels and convenience store retailing. We are hiring for the position of SVP, Refining located in our Dallas, Texas corporate office.


The Sr. Vice President Refining will oversee all four Refining Operations. This person will be responsible for all aspects of refinery operations including safety, environmental compliance, reliability, and quality, employee relations, accounting, cost control and budgeting for the refinery operation.  This position will provide the vision and direction to meet corporate goals and targets. Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace, increase productivity and identify areas of improvement.  The Sr. Vice President will work with corporate functions including HSSE, Reliability and TA, Commercial, Logistics, Accounting, and Engineering to ensure that the facilities are constantly improving the safety and environmental performance of the refineries, achieving all regulatory requirements, operating in a planned and reliable manner to maximize profitability and growth of the facilities.


This person will work with the refineries and corporate teams in developing programs to measure performance and install programs for safe, reliable, cost-effective maintenance and operating systems. This position will oversee the development and reporting of Key Performance Indicators for the plant that will give the team data for proactive response and improvements.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the facilities and actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.
  • Establish goals, objectives and business strategies, in conjunction with VP’s, to maximize financial and operational performance and translate those goals into actionable plans.
  • Foster and further develop a success and results oriented culture.
  • Directly manage Refineries VP’s in a collaborative manner, driving results, while developing strong relationships.
  • Provide advice, guidance and leadership direction to subordinates to ensure proper execution of major projects and operating plans consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Establish individual goals and objectives for direct reports in support of the Company’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Identify and ensure the development of succession candidates for the VP roles and other key operations management within the organization.
  • Develop direct reports to be ready for next level/future opportunities, working in coordination with HR.
  • Conduct regular performance review feedback, including but not limited to, the annual formal review process. Provide ongoing positive constructive feedback and assure accountability to ongoing operational improvements.
  • Direct and monitor the development and implementation of short and long-term business plans and strategies for Refining, consistent with overall corporate objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze operating results on an ongoing basis and ensure that excellent performance is maintained.
  • Regularly visit all sites and monitor for successful performance.
  • Drive profitability and results through operational efficiency, proper workforce and asset planning and best industry practices across all business units.
  • Ensure communications between Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, Transportation, Engineering and other business lines functions are effectively maintained in both directions.
  • Develop and implement investment and operational strategies including infrastructure, equipment, technology, capital, maintenance, and personnel resources.
  • Interface with the local community regarding common issues.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and standards including but not limited to environmental and regulatory, human resources, facility, equipment, operations and maintenance.
  • Perform special tasks that may be assigned which will contribute to the achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives.


Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 15+ years of plant operating experience
    • Knowledge of refinery products, human resources management, and safety regulations; good communication skills – oral and written
    • Good computer skills, interpersonal skills, organization skills, and analytical skills;
    • Negotiation/mediation skills to resolve issues internally and externally
    • Ability to provide leadership and make decisions based on limited information
    • Ability to work in a changing environment
    • High energy level with a strong sense of urgency, the ability to manage competing priorities and to allocate resources wisely and proactively
    • Ability to quickly understand and learn first-hand capability of facility
    • Skills/experience at speaking to the press, government leaders, regulatory agencies, customers, and the public; strong management skills including the ability to influence key contributors and build a strong team
